For 35 years, SADD has been providing prevention tools to help teens reach out to their peers about critical everyday issues: underage drinking and drug abuse, risky, distracted, and impaired driving, teen violence and suicide, and other destructive activities.
STUDENTS AGAINST DESTRUCTIVE DECISIONS (SADD) In 1981, Robert Anastas, a health educator and hockey coach in Wayland, Massachusetts, stood helplessly by as two of his students died of injuries sustained in two separate alcohol-related traffic crashes. Anastas decided to fight back and developed a fifteen-session high school course on driving while impaired.
SADD has become a peer-to-peer education, prevention and activism organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions. Our mission is to provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, and other destructive decisions.
My name is Natalie Ionkin and I am running for the secretary position of the student government. During my senior year of high school I was the secretary of the club SADD which stood for Students Against Destructive Decisions. Our group met every Thursday after school, we would discuss issues in our schools and discuss on how we would tackle them.
